We started a podcast!

Starting a podcast sounds simple...

Buy a couple of microphones. Find somewhere quiet. Come up with a name. Hit record.

And technically, that is how you start a podcast.

But we've quickly discovered that starting a podcast is about much more than podcast equipment, cameras and Spotify uploads. It's about finding your voice, creating conversations people actually want to listen to and accepting that sometimes the best moments are the ones you never planned.

We've lost count of the flat whites consumed, ideas thrown around and “what if we did this?” conversations that got us here. So, make yourself a coffee, get comfortable and come along for the journey of how Unbilled & Unfiltered went from an idea over a beer with our CEO to a podcast we now cant wait to share with the world. Why We Started Unbilled & Unfiltered?

There are already millions of podcasts out there, so why start another one?

Because we felt there was room for something different. Unbilled & Unfiltered is about getting beyond the job titles, LinkedIn profiles, polished biographies and corporate answers. We wanted to sit down with interesting people and simply talk. About careers. Success. Failure. Ambition. Mistakes. Life outside work. The decisions that changed everything. And the stories that don't normally make it into the professional bio.

No scripts telling guests exactly what to say.

No perfectly rehearsed answers.

Just genuine conversations with interesting people.

That's where the name Unbilled & Unfiltered came from. Some of the most valuable conversations you'll ever have are the ones nobody bills for.

Starting a Podcast Is Easy. Starting a Good One Isn't. Search "how to start a podcast" and you'll find endless lists telling you what microphone to buy, which podcast hosting platform to use and how to submit a podcast to Spotify or Apple Podcasts. All useful. But we've learned that the equipment isn't necessarily the difficult part. The difficult part is creating an environment where somebody forgets they're being interviewed.

You can have the best podcast microphone, an incredible studio and beautiful cameras, but if the conversation feels forced, people notice. One of the nicest pieces of feedback we've received came from a guest who told us:

"You made me feel so at ease and created such a nice environment where we could just chat."

For us, that's exactly what we're trying to create.

Because once someone becomes comfortable, you stop getting interview answers.

You start getting stories.

Unbilled & Unfiltered is only getting started, and that's exactly what makes this stage exciting.

There will be new guests, new conversations, plenty happening behind the scenes and, almost certainly, a few things going spectacularly wrong along the way. We'll share those bits too.

After all, it wouldn't be very Unfiltered if we didn't.

Stay Unbilled. Stay Unfiltered.
